Product Review || Sweet Harvest Homestead

Welcome to my very first product review!! Today I am reviewing the bar soaps from Sweet Harvest Homestead. This company is run by Lindy Sellers, and everything she sells is handmade by her. I have to say that I don't usually go for bar soap, but I'm a sucker for scents!! So I decided to pick up three from Ms. Lindy's booth at our Scout Christmas Party.

Left to right: Beneath the Stars, French Vanilla Pear, Ginger Lime

French Vanilla Pear reminds me of the Twilight Woods scent from Bath and Body Works, but lighter. This soap smells *so* delicious!! The juicy pear scent is wonderfully balanced out by the notes of vanilla. It's definitely a more fall/winter scent, but I'll probably use it all year.

Ginger Lime is not only a happy smell, but it also has a happy look. It's colored in such a way to match the scents of ginger and lime. This soap is refreshing and pretty to look at, which is why I picked it up.

Last, but certainly not least, is Beneath the Stars. I'm just going to say straight off that I picked this one because of the design. It reminds me of Van Gogh's Starry Night painting, which is my absolute favorite painting of all time!! Not only does it look beautiful, but it smells beautiful too!! This soap is scented with rose and jasmine which makes for a beautiful combination.

So that is all for my review of the Sweet Harvest Homestead's soaps!! I encourage every one of you to buy at least one bar to try. Mrs. Lindy has so many more scents, one for every mood. Her website is www.sweetharvesthomestead.com, so go check it out!!

Much love (and scented soap!!)

Flames Climb High

These pictures are from New Year's Eve. It's becoming a tradition that we go to our friends' house and burn our Christmas trees. Yes, that sounds a little morbid, but it's an awesome way to end the year. The following pictures are completely unedited, if you can believe that. And btw, I was totally singing songs about fire..... ;)

The flames from this tree were about 25 feet tall!!

I see fire inside the mountain

                                           Sparks Fly

This reminds me of the music video for My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark, or
Light 'Em Up

This looks like a fiery version of the will-o'-the-wisps from Brave

Fly to the moon......

The color of the sparks is amazing!!

And we gonna let it burn, burn, burn

An Unnamed Tag

Hello darlings!! I was nominated for this tag-who's-name-is-unknown-to-me. Thanks Kaitlyn!!
Here are the questions she asked me:

1) What is your dream job and why?
It is my passion and dream to become a recording artist. Making music is something that really speaks to my soul and it helps to clear my head of nonsense when I need to focus on something. I've also found that there is something about a song that can unite people under one love, idea, and God. So being the instrument(I crack myself up!) that can do that would be so fulfilling.
2) What are your 3 favorite hobbies?
The general category of music, reading, and playing Trivia Crack. Blasting my family and friends with random knowledge is pretty awesome!!
3) If you could go anywhere, where would it be?
This is so generic, but I definitely want to go to Paris, France. But who doesn't, right??
4) What book has most impacted your life?
Other than the Bible, I would say that The Count of Monte Cristo has taught me a significant amount about human nature, love, and the negative effects of revenge and sin. It's a really long read(1257-ish pages), but it is totally worth it!!
5) Who are your favorite bloggers or blogs?
Obviously my best friend Theresa is at the top of this list. She has ah-mazing blog called Tmarie. She specializes in vintage outfits, photography, sewing, and cake decorating. Theresa is one of the most talented people I know and everyone could benefit from visiting her blog.

Next is A Beautiful Mess. Elsie and Emma run this blog with a simple beauty that appeals to most people. Their lifestyle blog inspires me to look for the simple things in life, while being using my creativity to provide another way to enjoy those things.

Third on the list is Gossiping With Dragons, run by Imogen Elvis. She's a writer and quite new to the blogosphere. I've only recently found her blog, but I've read many of her posts. She's entertaining, helpful, and it's just fun to read her words. So if you're an aspiring writer you should definitely check her out.

Finally I have Olivia from Snapshooting My Life. As you can probably tell from her title, she's a photographer. And a great one at that. She has a great eye for the little details and is great at taking selfies with a professional camera!! Check her out and follow her for great pictures and funny ramblings!!
6) What is your current favorite song?
This will forever be the hardest question I am ever asked. There's just so much great music!! But I have to say that Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud is my favorite right now. But you probably already knew that if you read my last post ;D
7) Do you have a favorite quote? If so, what?
Another tough question.... But I have to choose this one: She was fascinated with words. To her, words were a thing of beauty, each like a magical powder or potion that could be combined with other words to create a powerful spell.     ~ Dean Koontz
This quote is so me it's insane.
8) If you could only have one social media site, what would you pick and why?
Probably Instagram. Follow me @callanrushing
9) What book of the Bible are you reading?
Romans 8. There is a lot of meaty stuff in this chapter.
10) What is your favorite Bible verse?
Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord," plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."

I hope all of you are having a wonderful New Year!!

Music Monday

So I think I'm finally done with computer problems. *CHEERS*

Track Review
Track~ Thinking Out Loud
Artist~ Ed Sheeran
Album~ x

This is probably one of the most beautiful and touching song I've ever heard. Ed Sheeran is a lyrical genius as it is, but he has truly outdone himself with this track. If you've heard any of his songs before, you know that he has a folksy quality to his music, working mainly with acoustic guitars and raw, powerful, vocals. However, he strays a little from his usual sound to serenade us with an electric guitar. This song is built around the guitar, with the drum kit and bass joining in the second verse and the keyboard coming in on the chorus.
But these elements are just the compliment to his simple, but beautiful lyrics. This song is about loving one person for all of time, which is a refreshing turn from all of the hit songs about sex, drugs, and alcohol. In the second verse, Ed tells his "darling" that he "will be loving [her] til [they're] 70" and how he falls in love with her "every single day". In the third verse he says:
"When my hair's all but gone and my memory fades
And the crowds don't remember my name
When my hands don't play the strings the same way
I know you will still love me the same".

Is that not the most beautiful sentiment put into words?? I truly cannot sing the praises of this song enough. I can only tell you to listen for yourself.... and then listen again and again and again. If you can't tell, this is my current favorite song. I have a feeling that it will be on my Favorites playlist for a long time.

Much love,
Callan
